Education

Dr. Shi earned his medical degree from Shanghai Medical University in 1987. He subsequently pursued advanced academic training at Peking Union Medical College, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Medicine. During his doctoral studies, he trained under the mentorship of Professor Li Zirong, a renowned expert in osteonecrosis and joint disorders.

Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Shi has completed extensive international fellowships and specialized training at renowned overseas medical institutions. In 1996, he completed a comprehensive one-year fellowship in joint surgery at Fukuoka Orthopedic Hospital in Japan. He further expanded his surgical repertoire in 1999 by mastering advanced arthroscopic techniques at a medical center in Singapore.

To continually elevate his mastery of joint replacement, Dr. Shi has also undertaken systematic clinical training in knee arthroplasty in the United States and France. Additionally, he traveled to the United Kingdom to acquire advanced proficiency in hip resurfacing procedures, ensuring the integration of advanced global surgical techniques into his clinical practice.

Clinical Experience

Dr. Shi began his clinical career in 1987 at the Department of Orthopedics at China-Japan Friendship Hospital. Through decades of dedicated practice, he progressively advanced his clinical roles within the institution, serving as a Resident, Attending Physician, and Associate Chief Physician. In 2006, he was appointed as a Chief Physician, a milestone that reflects his comprehensive mastery of orthopedic care and his enduring commitment to clinical excellence.

Clinical Expertise

With over 30 years of dedicated clinical practice in orthopedics, Dr. Shi specializes in the comprehensive research and surgical management of hip and knee joint disorders. He possesses profound expertise in the early diagnosis and treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head, with a particular focus on predicting femoral head collapse. To date, he has successfully performed various joint-preserving procedures for over 500 patients suffering from this condition.

In the specialized field of joint arthroplasty, Dr. Shi demonstrates exceptional surgical proficiency in both complex primary hip and knee replacements and challenging revision surgeries. As a highly prolific joint surgeon, he performs more than 500 arthroplasty procedures annually, having successfully completed a cumulative total of over 6,000 related surgeries throughout his career.

Furthermore, Dr. Shi has been actively involved in the clinical research and application of minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty utilizing small-incision techniques. His clinical application of this advanced procedure is recognized as a leading standard nationwide.
