Clinical Experience
Mentored by the renowned joint and sports medicine expert Prof. Cai Xu, Dr. Zhang has cultivated a distinguished 20-year career in orthopedic surgery. He established his foundational clinical expertise at premier national institutions, serving at the Chinese PLA General Hospital from 2011 to 2016, where he advanced to Attending Physician. He subsequently joined Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, where his clinical excellence led to his promotion to Associate Chief Physician.
In 2014, Dr. Zhang became a core member of the Medera Medical Group. Demonstrating exceptional clinical and administrative leadership, he was appointed in 2019 as the Director of the Medera Joint and Spine Center at Heping Hospital of Beijing Red Cross Society. In this executive capacity, he comprehensively oversees all clinical operations, departmental management, and the strategic academic development of the specialty center.
Clinical Expertise
Dr. Zhang’s clinical expertise encompasses a comprehensive spectrum of adult joint reconstruction and advanced sports medicine. In the field of joint arthroplasty, he is highly proficient in performing Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), and Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA).
In sports medicine, he specializes in sophisticated minimally invasive arthroscopic interventions across multiple joints. His extensive arthroscopic repertoire includes anterior and posterior cruciate ligament (ACL/PCL) reconstruction, meniscal repair and resection, and the removal of intra-articular loose bodies in the knee. For shoulder pathologies, he expertly performs arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and acromioplasty. Furthermore, he utilizes advanced arthroscopic techniques for the precision management of hip labral tears, ankle ligament injuries, elbow disorders, and the minimally invasive release of gluteal muscle contracture. Additionally, his surgical proficiency extends to minimally invasive corrective procedures for hallux valgus.
Research & Awards
Dr. Zhang has made significant academic contributions to the field of orthopedics, having authored 8 peer-reviewed articles in leading national medical journals and 2 SCI-indexed papers. His commitment to clinical innovation is demonstrated by his contribution to three national clinical medical patents. Furthermore, he is highly active in medical publishing, serving as the Deputy Editor for Clinical Diagnosis and Operative Orthopedics and as a contributing author for Operative Treatment of Fractures, published by the Chinese PLA General Hospital. He has also co-translated prominent international medical texts, including the renowned Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics and Essentials of Hip Revision Surgery.
