Clinical Experience
Dr. Shi possesses over 40 years of extensive clinical experience in orthopedics, dedicating nearly three decades specifically to the clinical application and advancement of orthopedic external fixation techniques. He served for over 10 years at the Beijing Institute of Orthopedic External Fixation. To further enhance his clinical proficiency, Dr. Shi completed specialized training and a three-month collaborative clinical fellowship alongside specialists at the renowned Ilizarov Scientific Center in Russia.
In addition to his rigorous clinical practice, Dr. Shi has demonstrated a profound commitment to medical philanthropy, dedicating eight years to performing charitable surgical procedures for underserved populations. His surgical footprint is extensive, having successfully executed numerous complex external fixation procedures and corrective osteotomies across multiple provinces and municipalities throughout China.
Clinical Expertise
Dr. Shi specializes in the advanced application of external fixation for the comprehensive management of complex limb and joint disorders. His clinical expertise encompasses the correction of appendicular skeletal and joint deformities, including limb length discrepancies, angular deformities, and restricted joint mobility. Furthermore, he demonstrates advanced surgical proficiency in treating the sequelae of poliomyelitis, limb deformities secondary to cerebral palsy, foot and ankle deformities such as congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot), and developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). He is also highly experienced in the external fixation management of appendicular nonunion, complex bone defects, and osteomyelitis.
Research & Awards
Dr. Shi has made specialized academic contributions to the field of orthopedics. He serves as the co-editor of the Orthopedic Expert Pathology Analysis Series: Limb Functional Reconstruction via External Fixation and as the assistant editor for the second edition of Intramedullary Nailing Internal Fixation. Additionally, he has published clinical research in the peer-reviewed Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics.
