Clinical Expertise
Prof. Liu possesses comprehensive clinical expertise spanning complex joint reconstruction, orthopedic oncology, and advanced spine surgery. In the realm of joint and trauma management, he is highly proficient in internal fixation for fractures, total hip and knee arthroplasty (including both surface and hinged implants), shoulder arthroplasty, and corrective surgery for pediatric congenital hip dislocation. His orthopedic oncology practice encompasses the resection of massive extremity joint tumors, biological reconstruction (tumor devitalization and replantation), and complex endoprosthetic joint replacement.
Furthermore, he has extensive experience utilizing various spinal corrective internal fixation systems. His surgical repertoire in spine disorders includes targeted discectomy for Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH), Scoliosis Correction Surgery, spinal canal decompression, and the comprehensive surgical management of Cervical Spondylosis utilizing both anterior and posterior approaches.

Prof. Liu is a dedicated researcher in the field of orthopedic oncology, with a primary focus on the surgical management and reconstruction of spinal metastases. He is widely recognized for his academic contributions, particularly his pioneering work in advocating and implementing preoperative low-dose radiotherapy for metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC).
As a principal investigator, he leads multiple government-funded clinical research initiatives, notably a prospective controlled study investigating posterior decompression and internal fixation combined with 3D-printed guide-assisted 125I seed implantation for the treatment of spinal MSCC. Furthermore, he serves as the editor-in-chief for two professional medical monographs, including Bone Metastasis and Spinal Metastases: New Concepts and Strategies.
A prolific scholar and innovator, Prof. Liu has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles as the first or corresponding author in prestigious international journals, including International Orthopaedics, European Spine Journal, and Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery. His commitment to clinical advancement is also evidenced by four national patents, which include the development of a specialized targeted guiding puncture device for thoracolumbar vertebroplasty via a unilateral pedicle approach.
